Hi everyone, and thanks for checking out my page!
I use writing to explore things like education, entrepreneurship, power and oppression, happiness, love, and counter-narrative. In my life, I have had many mentors and teachers, and I like to pay it forward by helping others through teaching, mentoring, and writing. I discuss multiple topics that interest me, so please use the categories link to help you find the related posts that you may wish to read.
Recently, I rewatched a Ted Talk by Adam Leipzig, on finding your life purpose. I have always been a believer in destiny – and that everyone has something to accomplish or fulfill in their lives. In the talk, Leipzig lead the audience through five essential questions to help them determine their life’s purpose. Here’s mine:
I’m Yen, and I teach people to become more empowered so that they can pursue and fulfill their own life’s purpose.
That’s actually part of the reason why I write in this blog. I feel like we are all on personal paths, moving toward our own personal goals and destinies. By sharing and opening the conversations of how we become more of ourselves, we learn from each other. Although we may not always agree with each other, and I don’t think that’s necessarily the point, exposure to multiple points of view, with the goal of gaining understanding, helps us with our own unique journey. We must all figure out how to get from point A to point B, and by sharing, we develop a camaraderie and mutual understanding that helps us deal and overcome our own personal struggles. It helps to know that we are human, we make mistakes, and we all struggle. Some of my blog posts are about my own struggles to understand, to gain confidence, to cope, and also to overcome.
I want to add though, that I am not alone in this. I am very fortunate to have my best friend Aubrey join me on this journey. She is a talented writer, a dear friend, and just one of those humans that, when you meet them, you are permanently changed by the encounter in positive ways. You will find her posts in this blog enlightening and entertaining…and should you become addicted to her writing, you can visit her personal blog here.
So please, make yourselves welcome to our blog, and I hope that the posts you find here are ones that can help you on your own journeys. Thank you so much for visiting, and welcome to our pensieve!
Warmly,
Yen
